He was a voracious reader, enthusiastic logophile, and amateur dissectologist.

He was the second of three generations to attend Camp Pemigewasset in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and was a lifetime member of the Barton Hills Country Club in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

His favorite pastime was sitting in the sun, reading a book, and smoking a good cigar.

"With the law in such great state of flux…someone has to take the job and make the critical decisions…of knowing the law, and keeping current with its changes, it is perhaps the only hedge against disastrous decision making."
