Obituary

Robert (Bob) Henry Mrozinski of Dearborn, MI, died peacefully January 17th, 2022 at 91 years of age. He is survived by his children Ruth Ann Czech (Pete), Bob Mrozinski (Jan), Stephen Mrozinski, Sally Mehreteab (Mehari), grandchildren Tom Czech (Joanne), Dan Czech (Anndee), Bobby Mrozinski, Holly Mrozinski, Robel Mehreteab, Anabela Mehreteab, great-granddaughter Jiles, sister Jean Borkovich, niece Debra Borkovich, nephew Steve Herring (Janell), grand-niece Katie Herring and grand-nephews Danny, Matthew and Andrew Herring. Bob is predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years Annabelle, their infant son Robert Stephen Mrozinski, son John Mrozinski, brother Raymond (Bill) Mrozinski and parents Thaddeus and Casimira Mrozinski. Bob was born in Natrona, Pennsylvania on December 6 th , 1930.

In high school and beyond he was an outstanding baseball player, excelling particularly as a pitcher. He played in the minor leagues before throwing his arm out.

He enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Sometime during his service he was posted at Fort Devens in Massachusetts. There at a USOdance he met the love of his life. Bob and Annabelle married in May of 1954. They lived for several years near Bob's native Pittsburgh. He worked at PPG among other places. With the help of the GI bill, he earned his Bachelors in Economics at Duquesne University. In 1960 they moved back to Annabelle's native Massachusetts where Bob took a job at John Hancock as an Account Executive. Through the 1960's they lived with their growing family in Newton, Massachusetts. With five children, Bob sought more ambitious opportunities. The chance he found with John Hancock required moving to the Detroit Area for a sales job in Group Pension Sales. This took him and his family hundreds of miles away from all of their friends and relatives, but after time the gamble paid off. Bob did well at John Hancock through the 70's and early 80's. Then a combination of hard work and good luck landed him a job with All State Group Pensions. He finished his career there. He and his several national cohorts agreed to a man that they had found the best job of their lives. His sales success won him and Annabelle several trips to exotic, warm locations.

After retirement, he decided to pursue a lifetime ambition: throwing the javelin. After extended practice, he entered a regional Senior Olympics. Subsequently, he qualified for the Nationals. Over the next couple years, he won two medals at the Nationals. Late in life, Annabelle's health declined. Bob devotedly attended all her needs. He refused pleas for her or both of them to move to a retirement home or a nursing facility. Their devotion and love for each other was remarkable.
