September 1, 1928 – November 22, 2024
Joseph "Ron" Mills passed away at the age of 96 on November 22, 2024. Ron is survived by his children, Rosemary Mittlestat (Earl), Linda Kemp (Chris), and Ron Mills, grandchildren Amy Jones (Evan), Laura King (Chris), Jason Keacher, Angela Hill (Nick), Daniel Mills and Robert Mills, as well as nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beautiful wife Melvina (Mel) Mills, daughter Carolyn Mills, parents Melvin and Agnes Mills, brother Bob Mills, and sisters June Haddow and Marilyn Devereux.
Ron often told the story of how he met his bride on a blind date and the moment he saw her he thought she was absolutely stunning. Mel had three girls under the age of 7, however, he was unphased and a year later they were married. Together they had a son and raised their four children. Mel was the love of his life. Ron was a US Army Veteran and retired from Ford Motor Company. Ron served his community in many ways. He was the longest serving member of the City of Taylor Building Authority, he served on the City of Taylor TIFA Board, the City of Taylor Recreation Commission and served on the Condo Association Board where he lived for over 15 years. He was also an usher at St. Alfred church for many years. While he was always involved in community organizations, his main priority was always his family. It has been said, to know Ron Mills was to love him. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of receiving his love and friendship.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2nd from 3:00PM - 7:00PM at the Taylor Location of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home and Cremation Services located at 9800 Telegraph road Taylor, MI 48180. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, December 3rd at 10:00AM, Instate to begin at 9:30AM at St. Constance Church located at 21333 Kinyon St, Taylor, MI 48180.
