Obituary

Roy William Bryans

Started his life in Taylor until his parents moved to their forever home in Allen Park. He graduated from Allen park High School.  He worked at his father, Don Bryans Shell Gas Station thru his childhood and partially in his adulthood.  Bryans wrecker service specialized in towing corvettes so as not to damage them.  They would get calls from as far as the tip of Michigan.  He raced corvettes at Detroit drag way and on the streets.  He purchased his first 1962 corvette in 1964 and his father loved it so much that he bought one of his own.  Roy and his father would volunteer their Wreckers from the station for Detroit Dragway for safety crew.  He was a draftsman designer for many companies.  One Pipe design of his still stands in Detroit off 75 freeway bridge.  He worked his first career at DTE in Detroit where he eventually transferred to Fermi Nuclear power plant and was in charge of safety.  When he retired from DTE, he worked recreationally for DTE until he was hired to work as General Manager for M1 Rail.  Now known as the Q1 Line in Detroit.  He loved working and was always in a suit and tie for work.  His causal Fridays would most times still be in a collared shirt.

He loved his shade trees.  He still mourns the tree in his back yard that passed away and had to be removed.  A Tree he planted in my front yard he would forbid me from cutting down because he planted it from a seed from his late Aunt Helen's maple tree.

He was a member of the Downriver Corvette club and the Livonia based Shady Characters car club.  He loved all his American made cars.  Whether it was Ford, Chevy or Dodge.  But they all had to have maximum horsepower.  He would be known to modify his daily driver to achieve desired performance.  He was a gun lover and would go shooting whenever he had time.  Last time I can recall was for my birthday last June.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
