Russell Wayne Wells, age 102, of Dearborn Heights, MI, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, loving father, beloved grandfather, and treasured friend, he brought joy, laughter, and love to all who knew him.

A lifelong fan of Detroit sports, Russell cheered passionately for the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and University of Michigan athletics. Whether it was football Saturdays or a summer day at the ballpark, he loved nothing more than rooting for his teams—win or lose.

Outside the stadiums, Russell had a lifelong passion for flying model airplanes. He not only mastered the skill himself but took great pride in passing on his love for aviation to his grandsons and nephews, teaching them how to fly with patience and enthusiasm.

Known for his quick wit and infectious laugh, he had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a joke or a playful jab. His favorite saying, "Fat chance," was often delivered with a grin and became a signature part of his charm.

For 24 wonderful years, Russell and his beloved wife, Marion, were avid square dancers. Their love for the dance floor was matched only by the joy they found in each other's company and the many friendships they formed through the activity.

Russell will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy lives on through the laughter he inspired, the lessons he taught, and the love he shared with everyone lucky enough to know him.

Loving husband of the late Marion of 66 years. Caring father of Russell (Blanca), and Pat Thornton. Devoted grandfather of Wayne, Michael, and Nick. Great grandfather of Alex, Mckenna, Greg, and Jimmy. Great great grandfather of Landynn, and Liam.

A celebration of life will be held on September 5, 2025 from 4-8pm at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home and Cremation Services located at 9800 Telegraph Road Taylor MI 48180.
