Ruth A. Volpe – Age 87 of Dearborn Heights, passed away December 13, 2018 in Canton, Michigan. She joins her beloved husband of 64 years, Virgil, in eternal peace. Proud mother of Virgil Volpe, David (Linda) Volpe, Patty (Frank) Volpe-Hurtig, and Anne Volpe-Kline. Cherished grandmother of Stefanie (Jessica) Volpe, Ethan Kline, and Jack Kline.

Ruth was a vibrant woman who led an equally colorful life. She met her beloved Virgil on opposing sides of the football field in high school, a cheerleader to his football player. Together they moved to metro-Detroit and started a beautiful family. She worked for the Michigan Cancer Foundation, then a librarian, and eventually went on to her most prized career of all: the antiquing business. It all started as a hobby; picking through garage sales and finding treasures on the street discarded by others. It grew to refinishing furniture and eventually working at multiple antique shops. Ruth was an excellent athletic instructor, teaching tai chi, jazzercise, hula, and line dancing to the senior community. She loved to relax by reading a good book. When she was no longer able to see as well, she continued her love for storytelling with audio books. Ruth adored her family and the pets they all cared for. She was kind, warmhearted, and so much more to those who loved her dearly. She will be missed greatly.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 16 ^th from 2-8PM with a funeral service at 7PM. All services will be located at the Dearborn Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home 22546 Michigan Ave. Ruth will be laid to rest at St. Hedwig cemetery. Memorials in her honor may be made out to the Michigan Humane Society.
