Latigo, Samuel (Sam) 87 of Dearborn, Michigan, passed away on August 29, 2014 in Sevierville, Tennessee, where he lived the last year of his life. He was born in San Antonio, TX, on February 19, 1927. He was preceded in death by his wife, Apolinar (Pauline) Latigo, whom he loved more than he realized. Sam was a Maintenance Supervisor at Great Lakes Steel until he retired in 1989. He attended Gilead Baptist Church of Allen Park and Lighthouse Baptist Church of Lincoln Park. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Edgecombe. Sam was a devoted follower of the Detroit Tigers. He is survived by five children: Samuel Latigo of Raleigh NC; Jacob Latigo of Dearborn MI; Olivia Sweeney of Sevierville TN; Linda Ulanch of Howard City MI; and Roger Latigo of Allen Park MI. He also survived by eleven grandchildren Alaina; Joy; Miranda; Gloria; Kelci; Luke; Andrew; Raquel; Tyler; Liliana; Ariana, as well as seven great grandchildren, Sean Samuel; Jesse; Tyler; Justin; Gavin; Liam; and Kilian. The funeral will be held at Howe Peterson Funeral Home Dearborn on Sept. 3, 2014 and will be conducted by Pastor Jim Hopkins. The committal will be at Cadillac Memorial Cemetery Garden City and will be officiated by the Rev Terry Sweeney. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to Samaritans Purse P.O. Box 3000 Boone, NC. 28607-3000.
