Sandra Lynnette Thompson

Sandra Waits Thompson was born on July 27, 1941 in Rome, Georgia. Sandra went to be with the Lord on September 18, 2026 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.

At the age of 12, Sandra and her family moved to Detroit, Michigan. It was there that she met the love of her life, Franklin ‘Sonny’ Thompson, and her life changed forever. Sonny and Sandy were married on December 5, 1959, and they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last December. Our parents built a beautiful life full of love and happiness, and their children were the beneficiaries of all they built.

Sandra is survived by her loving husband, Franklin Thompson; her three children, Melody (Frederick) Nichols, Kevin (Karen) Thompson, Cary (Lisa) Thompson; five grandchildren, Kristen (Brian) Davis, Jennifer (Lake) Bernet, Andrew (Stephanie) Nichols, Megan (Jordan) Adams, Katie Thompson; nine great grandchildren, Elijah (Abigale) Davis, Emma (Jordan) Hoskins, Joel Davis, Maggie Davis, Millie Davis, Molly Davis, Elliott Nichols; her sister, Sharon (Thomas) Banas, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha Waits; and her brother, William ‘Rocky’ (Becky) Waits.

Sandra enjoyed every minute of her life. She loved to travel (especially to the ocean), shopping, watching the sunrise and the sunset. She loved being anywhere and doing anything if it was with the love of her life, Sonny.

Sandra had an infectious laugh, she was a friend to everyone she met, and loved to keep in touch through cards and letters. She greeted each day with joy. She loved to sing, and you could hear her beautiful voice above the crowd. She lived a wonderful life full of love, laughter, and happiness. To put it simply, Sandra Thompson lived a magnificent life.
