Obituary

Sherry Mae Brackett passed away peacefully on August 29th at the age of 85 with her daughters Kelly and Kerry (Niall) by her side.  Beloved wife of the late Thomas Brackett, Jr. She is also survived by her stepsons Thomas III (Jean), Patrick (Barb), Michael (Lori), James and William. Loving grandmother to Natasha, Briana (Jon), Leah (Jesse), Jenna, Amanda (Drew), Kayla (Zack), Theresa (Steve), Drew (Nicole), Johnathan, Nathaniel, Seth and Lauren.  Cherished great-grandmother to Lincoln, Beau, Adelynne, Zoe and Avery. Beloved sister to Bonnie (Norm) and Glee, and sister-in-law to Gregory (Donna). Sherry was born on March 26, 1939 to the late Lawrence and Mae Straass and graduated from Edsel Ford in June, 1957.  Although she moved away for many years after high school, she came back to Dearborn and eventually married the love of her life, the late Thomas Brackett, Jr.  They loved to travel and went on many adventures throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.  The places they visited benefited greatly due to Sherry's souvenir shopping.  Sherry and Tom enjoyed spending time with their grandkids by going to their numerous events, activities, and taking them on trips. At the time of his death, Sherry and Tom had been married 32 years.  Sherry's last job was as an Administrative Assistant at Ford Motor Credit Company, where she retired from.  She was active in Michigan Democratic politics, especially with the Dearborn Democratic Club.  Sherry loved her grandkids, shoes, photography, serving on Senator Carl Levin's Military Screening Committee and crocheting blanket pads for the Humane Society or scarves for people in need.  As she was speaking to her daughters this weekend, Sherry said to them: "I had a great life and it was fun."   Words to aspire to. She would want to remind everyone of the importance of your vote this November – for whomever you vote for.  Now being a Democrat, Mom would put in a plug to Vote for Harris/Walz of course.
