Sherry Diane (Wilson) Rood

Sherry Diane Rood passed away on February 26, 2025 at the age of 70. Born on March 22, 1954 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Diane, as she preferred to be called, was a beloved Mom, Nan, Sister and Aunt to many.

Diane is survived by her children; Shay Hicks and Falon (Chris) Barretto and her four beloved grandchildren; Maleah, Dominic, Jonah, and Eloise. She was preceded in death by her daughter Melissa, parents; Fred Wilson and Hazel (Morgan) Wilson, and her seven brothers and sisters; Ronald, Harold, Dee, Lyndel, Sandra, Karon, and Portia.

Diane loved nature and being outside in the nice weather. She always had a bird feeder at home and enjoyed watching her little visitors come and go. Hummingbirds were her favorite, so much so that at the age of 60 she got her first, and only, tattoo of a hummingbird on her wrist so that she always had one to gaze upon.

She loved music of many genres and was often seen listening to songs and singing along. In her younger days, Diane was an avid concert goer and enjoyed rocking out at different venues enjoying her favorite bands.

Diane loved a good mystery, be it in book, tv, or movie form, she enjoyed them all. She was into strange facts and extraterrestrial encounters and liked to watch shows surrounding these mysteries of the world.

She also really enjoyed going to museums, restaurants and out shopping with her family. Diane loved the many pets that she had throughout her life. Most recently she enjoyed the company of her beloved kitties, Wasabi and Merlin who gave her endless amounts of joy and entertainment.

Diane was a sweet lady and will be missed greatly by all that knew her.

The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
