Sophie
Harbowy
August 15, 1921 – October 8, 2020
Sophie Harbowy passed away on October 8, 2020 at the age of 99. Sophie grew up in a large family. She was the only girl of the 7 children. Not like you'd think, her brothers spoiled her. She was treated like a princess and this taught Sophie how to be kind and to spoil others.
She never felt the need to marry and didn't have children of her own, but her brothers provided her many nieces and nephews to shower with gifts!
Even though there were so many to keep track of, she remembered every birthday and would make sure to provide nothing but the best candy to to celebrate. She was also known to bring the finest chocolate crosses to the Christmas parties at grandma's house all the while wearing reindeer antlers on her head! She was always the one to break out the Christmas carols after the meal initiating a group sing along.
Shopping was one of her favorite things to do, mostly buying for others. Even when the nieces and nephews grew up, it wasn't uncommon to for her to bring goodies to their homes. She would call first to let them know that she was "Only dropping off". She wasn't expecting to be entertained or interrupt their day.
She couldn't be happier when they all began having children. She absolutely LOVED babies! Not only did their existence alone bring her so much joy, but it gave her another person to spoil.
Her loved ones will always remember her as being a kind hearted, selfless, and generous person. She was on this earth for 99 years. In that time, she has touched so many lives. All that were lucky enough to have met her will never forget her.
Sophie Harbowy passed away October 8, 2020 at the age of 99. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary, and her brothers, John, Emil, Walter, Edward, Henry, and Michael. She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
