Johnny Sue Gibson (Johnson) passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, at the age of 80. She was born on February 22, 1944 in California to Mabeline and Johnnie Johnson.

Sue grew up in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. She later attended Arkansas State University, where she met the love of her life, Melvin. They were married in 1965, celebrating 60 years together. Sue was a devoted wife and a fierce matriarch. While she took pride in everything that she accomplished, she found true joy in her family. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her husband, two boys, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.

Sue became a mother figure to many others over the years. It wasn't uncommon for strays of all sorts (both animals and humans) to find their way to the Gibson household and become a member of the family. She was a great friend, a fabulous dancer, and the life of the party. She had a radical capacity to love every person she met, and every person she met loved her in return.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Tommie. She is survived by her husband Melvin, children John (Bridget) and Mark (Angi), grandchildren Emily and Matthew, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 3:00-8:00pm and the Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 11:00am. All services will be located at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home and Cremation Services 9800 Telegraph Rd. Taylor, MI 48180. Sue will be interred at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock, MI.
