Susanne Edmunds Price Rose Kraynak, 85, died March 3rd, in her Allen Park home. She was born October 26, 1925 in Roanoke, Virginia to Rev. Horatio Spencer and Betsey Sharkey Edmunds. She had a love of education, receiving a B.A., Magna cum Laude, from Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA in 1946; a M.A. from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI in 1953; and post-graduate work at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, 1966-70. She married Scott Kern Price in 1947 divorced 1970, William Ralph Rose in 1976 deceased 1987, and Edward Kraynak in 2003. Her love of life, adventuresome spirit, overwhelming generosity, and eternal optimism inspired all who knew her. Her working years included Field Director/Camp Administrator, Toledo Girl Scout Council 1946-47; Owner/Director, Scottsdale Nursery School, Fowlerville, MI 1953-58; Camp Director, Shiawassee Girl Scout Council, Owosso, MI 1953-62; Director, Dearborn Children's Nursery, Dearborn, MI 1961-69; English Professor, Henry Ford Community College HFCC, Dearborn, MI 1966-69, 1972; Director of Student Activities, HFCC, 1970-71; and for the Michigan Metro Girl Scouts, Detroit, MI: Director of Field Services, 1973-86; Manager of Fund Development, 1987-90; and Diversity Awareness Teacher, 1993-2005. Susanne was a Founding Board Member of the Dearborn Pastoral Counseling Center; an American Association of University Women Member, 1960 – present; a Rotary Club of Dearborn Member participating in numerous International Exchange Trips and recipient of the Paul Harris Award; Member, Elder and Deacon at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church in Dearborn, MI; a Commissioner to the Presbyterian General Assembly, 1983, which resulted in the merger of the Northern and Southern Presbyterian Churches. She described this opportunity as the 'most thrilling religious experience of my life'. She was also a Member of Trinity Church, Northport, MI; and founded and directed the Northport Library Summer Lecture Series. She enjoyed sharing her love of reading in various book clubs spanning decades. Susanne is survived by her husband; children Scott Kern Price, Jr., Betsey Barker Price, Thomas Edmunds Price, Daniel Spencer Price, Anne Ruth Price; grandchildren Zachary Scott Buchwald, Rachael Edmunds Buchwald, Robert Standish Clark Price; brother Seldon Spencer Edmunds; and many extended family members. A Funeral Service will be held at Cherry Hill United Presbyterian Church, Cherry Hill & Telegraph, Dbn on Monday, March 7th at 11 am. Visitation will be at the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave., Dbn on Sunday, March 6th, from 4 – 8 pm. Susanne will be interred at Leelanau Township Cemetery, Northport, MI.
