Sylvia Kay
Crosby
April 19, 1950 – October 21, 2020
Sylvia Kay Crosby, 70, of Dearborn passed away peacefully on October 21, 2020, due to complications related to progressive supranuclear palsy.
She was born to the late Lemuel and Vivian Warner, April 19, 1950, in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania. Sylvia graduated from State College Area High School in 1968. She was preceded in death by sisters Thelma Warner and Rebecca Sorrels. She is survived by siblings Ellis Warner, Helen Houtz, Arlene Mahen, and Lemuel (Marty Jo) Warner.
Family consumed Sylvia's time and energy throughout her life. She was married to her husband, Ken, for 52 years and was a full-time mom to children Elisa (Paul) LaRue of Farmington Hills and Brian (Angela) Crosby of State College, Pennsylvania. One of the great thrills of Sylvia's life was being "Inny" to Zackary (13), Finn (9), and Nash (6). She loved Christmas celebrations when all her family could be together "under one roof."
In addition to Sylvia's commitment to her family, she loved and nurtured many children and teens through her involvement in the ministries at the Dearborn Free Methodist Church and Somerset Beach Campground (SBC). Camping at SBC with family and friends was something the Crosby family enjoyed together for many years. Sylvia recently mentioned that she missed being able to spend time at camp during her illness. She loved cooking, baking, collecting recipes, and showing love to others through the food she made. Finally, in her later years, Sylvia developed a love for the Hallmark movies that entertained her through the end of her life.
Sylvia's immediate family held a private burial service on October 24, 2020. A service to celebrate her life will be held on May 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Somerset Beach Campground in Somerset Center, Michigan. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family asks that donations be made to the Sylvia Crosby Memorial Fund through Somerset Beach Campground ( http://somersetbeach.org/about/give or P.O. Box 307, Somerset Center, MI, 49282).
