Sylvia I. Hakala, "Mumu," of Taylor, Michigan, passed peacefully on the 13th of January, 2018 at the age of 100.

Cherished Mother of Steven (Sharon) Hakala-Finch, Tom Thompson and the late Carol Nancy Thompson.

Loving Grandmother to Kim Hampton, Craig (Jenn) Thompson, Beth (Kevin) Young, Michael Hakala (Danielle) Crystal Eskin (Tim), and Andrew Hakala-Finch.

Sweetest Great-Grandmother to Thomas Hampton, Lauren Young, Anna Young, Victoria Thompson, Michael George Hakala, Grace Anne Eskin, Emmalee Eskin and Connor Eskin.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. and Mrs. Hakala were longtime 30 year residents of Traverse City and Hakala Hills.

Sylvia was a devoted member of St Paul United Church of Christ, Taylor, Michigan and very active in the City of
Taylor Senior center.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19th from 2-8 p.m. at the Taylor Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, located at 9800 S. Telegraph Rd, Taylor MI.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 11 a.m., in-state at 10 a.m., at St. Paul United Church of Christ, located at 24158 Goddard Rd, Taylor, MI.
