LOFTIS, Sylvia Anne of Allen Park, and a Ford Motor Company Salaried Retiree, died at Oakwood Hospital's Critical Care Unit in Dearborn on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 12:52 pm after waging a courageous battle with a longstanding pulmonary condition, diabetes and other complications. She was preceded in death by her beloved Mother, Sallie Fleming Loftis; brother, Alton McClarion Loftis and wife Doris; brothers-in-law Paul M. McGlone and J. Philip Schaupner; and the passing of her two much-loved Siamese cats, Coco & Cleo. Sylvia leaves behind to mourn her passing two cherished sisters, Sally Louise Schaupner and Betty Jo McGlone; her precious remaining brother, John Robert Loftis and wife Sharon; and a number of loving and caring nieces and nephews, with special mention of nephew Larry Loftis for the steadfast help and comfort he provided throughout. Howe-Peterson in Dearborn will handle arrangements for cremation, and interment will be at the White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. A private memorial to honor Sylvia's time on earth will take place at a later date. Sylvia believed in the teachings of Unity, a worldwide Christian organization, and received much spiritual comfort from them. She also loved all animals, especially her cats.
