Teresa was born on February 2 nd , 1952 to John "Jack" and Maryellen Youngs. The oldest of nine siblings, Teresa was known as the "big little sister." She may have been small but she was fierce. A big personality wrapped in a little package, Teresa grew up the leader of the pack in Southgate surrounded by dozens of other Irish Catholic families, but with her OWN BEDROOM, which was quite the luxury on Windemere Circle. At Aquinas, she started dating her high school sweetheart, Joe, who she married on October 23 rd , 1971.  They spent the first years of their marriage living on different Navy bases where they eventually fell in love with Hawaii and stayed until they moved back to Michigan to have their first daughter Julie. With three additional children, Jessica, Joey and Jeff, they bought a house on Cass Lake and raised their family on the water swimming and sailing. When retirement came Teresa and Joe decided to move back downriver where they could be close to their grandchildren, siblings and large extended family. Family and friends were by far the joy of Teresa's life and to them, she was always there for a good old-fashioned catch-up. Her siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many childhood friends would all enjoy a good cup of coffee or a phone call just to say "Hi." She always made her people know that they were loved and was very well known for her "long goodbye." This meant that she needed at least a 30-minute warning before leaving a gathering so that she could be sure to give each and every person a hug (or 2 or 3), look them in the eye and tell them that she loved them. Most of the time, it took longer. It is without doubt, what her friends a family will always be grateful for.
