Theodore Nathan Therrien, age 53, of DeWitt, Michigan, passed away on October 9, 2025.
Born on January 24, 1972, Ted was the son of the late Frederick E. and Jean Marie Therrien. He lived a life anchored by his core beliefs of honesty, deep respect, and unwavering integrity.
A proud and dedicated veteran, Ted served honorably as a Marine in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Following his military service, he continued his life of public service by joining the Michigan State Police. Over a distinguished career, he rose to the rank of Sergeant, serving as an Ordnance Sergeant and a revered firearms instructor. Known as an exceptional teacher, Ted mentored and trained generations of police officers, instilling in them the skills and values necessary to serve their communities safely. Outside of his uniform, Ted was happiest when surrounded by his family. He loved hosting get-togethers at his home, where he took great joy in doing all the cooking himself. A passionate automotive enthusiast, he was a dedicated "Ford and Volkswagen TDI guy" who loved diesel F-250 trucks and Mustangs. He dreamed of opening his own workshop to repair cars during his retirement. Ted also possessed a gentle soul and a natural affinity for animals, earning him the affectionate nickname of the "dog whisperer" among those who knew him. He was a loyal and true friend who cared deeply for others and was loved immensely in return. Ted is survived by his beloved daughter, Rowan; his cherished granddaughter, Scarlett Lane; his brother, Frederick E. Therrien Jr. (Shiela); his sisters, Tracy Therrien and Kelly Cook; along with many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
