Theodore "Ted" Thomas passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the age of 72.

Beloved husband of Viola for 52 years. Loving father of Becki (Tony) Dioso and Michelle Gilbert. Cherished grandfather of Nino, Winston, and Luciana. Dear brother of Ken Thomas and Diane Peyton. Preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Thomas and Irene Navyac and his sisters, Rosetta Ash and Carolyn VanderVelde. He was an uncle to 20 nieces and nephews and a friend to everyone, including his oldest and dearest friends Pablo Barrera and Bill Trevaskis.

Ted proudly served his country in the Navy. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from University of Michigan and his Master's Degree from Central Michigan University. He worked at GM and retired after 30 years. Ted was an avid traveler – he and Viola traveled the world together.  He was a connoisseur of wine, or as he called it to his grandchildren, "Papa's Juice."  His grandchildren affectionately referred to him as "Silly Papa" because of his great sense of humor and fun personality. He truly had the patience of a saint and a heart of gold - without hesitation he would help a stranger in need. He made friends everywhere – he would talk to anyone and everyone he met and had a genuine interest in learning about others.  His family referred to him as Mr. Fix-It because he had the ability to fix almost anything and if he couldn't, he would figure it out! Ted loved math and figuring out how things worked. He loved technology and always had the newest gadgets, which he used to stay organized. Ted enjoyed the outdoors, especially riding his bike, rollerblading and taking long walks around the neighborhood with his wife.  He also loved the water, whether being near it or out on his boat.  Ted was a great man who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 3:00PM until 8:00PM at the Taylor Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 9800 Telegraph Rd.

Funeral mass will take place on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 12:00PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 2535 Third Street in Trenton, Michigan.
