Obituary

Tom was born in Detroit on June 15,1944 to Mario and Jane DePodesta (both deceased).
He is survived by daughter, Laura (Paul) Bickford, wife Lynne Maher, Laura's mother, Diane DePodesta, brothers, Richard DePodesta (Lynette) of Lincoln Park MI and David DePodesta (Nancy) of Ninilchik, Alaska. Lynne's children, Jason (Lindsay), Jessica, Catherine; and grandchildren. Sisters-in-law Anne Rodriguez,and Mary (Kim) Portrey. Cousins, nieces and nephews from the DePodesta and Knapp families. Good friends, including former Lincoln Park friends, Navy Sea Bee Team Members 0406, with whom he served during the Vietnam War, his hunting and fishing friends and DTE co-workers.
Tom started his career in the Sheet Metal and Iron Working trades, owned his own manufacturer's representative business,and retired from DTE Energy in 2011 after 18 years of service.
Tom was always extremely proud of his daughter. He felt that being a good friend was one of his best attributes. Golfing was his passion along with boating and fishing.
Tom was extremely proud of his Italian heritage and spoke often of finding family members in Laggio di Cadore in Italy, the birthplace of his grandfather and grandmother. His dream came true in a 2012 trip to Laggio whe he met second cousins still living in the birthplace of his grandfather.
Tom reunited with his Sea Bee Team Members in 2006, reconfirming a bond built many years ago.

Visitation is 1-8pm Wednesday, 9-10am Thursday, Service 10:00am Thursday. Burial will take place at 2:00pm in Woodmere Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Promedica Hospice of Sylvania Ohio or Lewy Body Dementia Association.
