Thomas W. Durfy, age 83, died peacefully on May 21, 2025.

Thomas was born in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Mary M.(Tucholski) and Thomas W. Durfy.

A devoted husband and proud father, Thomas leaves a legacy of family, hard work, and integrity.

After marrying the love of his life, Rita Hergenrather, Thomas and Rita moved to Dearborn, Michigan.

Thomas spent his life committed to his family and his work. He was married to Rita for 58 years, and together they raised two sons, Randall and Richard, who were the pride and joy of their life.

Thomas, a graduate of the University of Toledo, built a lifelong career as an electrical engineer in the automotive industry. He was known for his deep knowledge, problem-solving skills, and unwavering work ethic. His contributions helped shape innovations still in use today, and he mentored countless colleagues during his distinguished career. Tom retired from Ford Motor Company.

Thomas was a man of quiet strength and enduring kindness outside of work. He enjoyed and cherished every moment spent with his family.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Mary M. Durfy and Thomas W. Durfy, and his wife, Rita J. Durfy. He is survived by his brother, Terence (Nancy) Durfy, and his sons, Randall (Judith) Durfy and Richard Durfy.

Thomas will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) in his memory.

Visitation will be at 10:00am with a Funeral Mass at 11:00am held at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, 16101 Rotunda Dr, Dearborn, MI 48120, (313) 336-3227.
