Thomas A. Moore, age 66, passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Mr. Moore is survived by many loved ones: Katherine Moore, five children: Christina Moore, Thomas R. Moore, Jillian Bazzi, Tarek Bazzi, Charles Moore, and Amanda Moore. He also left behind many grandchildren: Jacquelyn, Mark II, Jordan, Kaitlin, Brandon, Johnathen, Helena, Gavin, Leila, Brooklyn, Xoey, Sam, Malek, Zain, and Nadia.

Thomas deeply loved his family, friends, and animals. He cleverly nick-named those in his life. Being in nature was his sanctuary. He had a passion for hunting and exploring Michigan. He was a devoted fan of the Michigan Wolverines, making sure he recorded every game they have played for the last forty years.

Thomas is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service W/One Bronze Service Star, and Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device. He grew up in Detroit and the Downriver area.  He was the last child of five of Dana and Mildred Moore.  After losing his parents at a very young age, his sisters, Sue, Jane, Wilma and brother-in-law Henry continued to care for him.

Before reaching adulthood, Thomas lost his brother, Charles, in the Vietnam War.  This tragic event spurred his dedication to enlist in the Army at the young age of seventeen. As a sole surviving son, Thomas was not required to actively serve in the United States military, but instead he honorably chose to serve his country proudly in the Army. He served ten months of overseas service with distinction as an Army Soldier in Vietnam. Suffering an injury of being shot in the knee, he was transferred to Okinawa, Japan for medical treatment. Upon his return, he was commissioned as a Tank Commander in the First Infantry in Fort Riley, Kansas. He continued service in the Michigan National Guard. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest.

He was a deeply emotional, caring and loving human being.  Most would remember his good nature and off-color humor.  Making people laugh and feel at ease was his forte. Thomas had a great deal of self-confidence and marched to the beat of his own drum.  Unabashed and prideful, Thomas knew who he was and made no apologies for it. He was mechanically gifted, often learning from hands on experience. This led him into his career of being a certified service technician, working for Montgomery Ward, Sears, and A&E. Using his skills, he would often volunteer his time and service in helping others without expecting anything in return. Upon retiring due to medical conditions, Thomas was able to engross himself in his most favorite hobbies: learning about history and science, following politics, and watching his favorite game shows.
