Isaiah 40: 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles' they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Thomas Lee Skiver of Pittsboro, NC, passed away on October 13 th at UNC Hospital after complications from COVID and his advanced lung disease. Tom was born and raised in Taylor, Michigan until he joined the Army. He was stationed in Alaska and liked to share the story that he was there when it became a state in 1959. Tom went to work at General Motors where he was employed in the Employee Assistance Program. He retired from General Motors in 1992. His retirement years in Michigan were spent serving others through charitable endeavors, helping those addicted to alcohol, running marathons and golfing. Tom was a friend of Bill W. for 54 years. He treasured that fellowship of friends throughout his life. They meant the world to Tom.
Tom met his wife, Pat, on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic in 1995. They were married in 2000 and relocated to NC in 2007. Together they continued to enjoy golf, their Fearrington community, travel, church work, entertaining friends and family. He loved to detail cars, tell a joke, enjoy a bag of Cheetos , talk on the phone with friends, play matchmaker, be a goofball and share his "cup" money.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Pat of 22 years, sons Thomas Skiver, Jr. (Adeline), Jeffrey Skiver (Kathy), brother, Kenneth Skiver (Margaret) along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Shirley Dobbins and Karen McClearen. Tom was a man of faith and a friend to all. Tom loved life and lived it to the fullest. Tom lived out his faith in countless ways; he prayed each day that God would use him to serve others.
