Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Virginia, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on March 1, 2025. Virginia was a woman of great joy, warmth, and energy, whose passions and interests shaped the lives of those around her. While many know her as Virginia, you may also know her as Babe, Jennie, Aunt Jennie, or Aunt Peanut.

Loving wife of the late Richard J. Lavoie Jr. Loving mother of Rick (Kathy) Lavoie, Michele Lavoie, and the late Suzanne Mangu. Caring grandmother of Adam, Scott, Daniel, and Veronica. Great grandmother of AJ, and Alayna. Dear second mother of Doreen Small. Virginia is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and her granddogs Hank, and Sophie. She is preceded in death by her parents Bonnie (Red) and Ruth Watts, and her siblings DorisJean Ward, and Eugene Watts Jr.

Virginia was a true lover of life. She found great joy in bowling, where she not only excelled but formed lasting friendships through her participation in several bowling leagues. Whether she was on the lanes or playing shuffleboard with friends, her competitive spirit and sense of fun were always on full display.

One of Virginia's greatest loves was her garden, where she proudly grew the best tomatoes anyone had ever tasted. Her green thumb and care for her plants were a reflection of her nurturing nature, which extended to her family and friends. She also had a deep affection for Cardinals, she enjoyed spotting them in her garden or during her travels. Their vibrant presence always brought her a sense of calm and joy, much like the way she brightened the lives of those around her. She found peace and joy in the simplicity of nature, especially while camping and spending time outdoors.

Many cherished evenings were spent gathered around bonfires at Michele's house, sharing stories, laughter, and memories. She loved teaching others, especially behind the wheel, often giving advice on how to drive, even when unsolicited.

Traveling was another passion of Virginia's, and she had many adventures with her dear Aunt Ruby. Together, they would embark on road trips, with Alabama being one of their favorite destinations to visit her sister-in-law, Lorraine. Along the way, they would often stop at casinos, enjoying the thrill of the games and the memories they created along the way.

Her love for card games brought many hours of entertainment. Whether playing Rummy, Pinochle, or even a game of Strip Poker, she was always up for a challenge, and her laughter was infectious.

Virginia was a woman who embraced life in all its forms. She will be remembered for her love of adventure, her kindness, and her ability to make any gathering more joyful. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and a life well-lived.
