Obituary

William "Bill" Livingston passed away on December 31, 2024 at the age of 90, he is preceded in death by his wife Lorraine of 51 years .

Loving father of Elizabeth (Michael) Flis

Older brother of Robert (Donna) Livingston

Caring grandfather of Angela and Paul Flis, great-grandfather of Anthony, along with many nieces, nephews and amazing friends.

William Emery Livingston was born to Mary Otto Livingston and William Livingston in Detroit on July 10th, 1934. He was five years old when they moved to Dearborn where he called home ever since.

Bill attended and graduated from Dearborn High, he then attended Henry Ford College where he received his degree in accounting.

Bill served in the US Navy from November 23rd, 1953  to November 22nd, 1961 during the Korean War.

After returning from the war Bill worked for Ford Motor Company and ended up becoming a purchasing supervisor for more than 30 years. Bill was able to befriend and communicate with all levels in the organization, he was viewed as a friend to hourly and salaried in the Rouge complex. He was able to continually present himself in a "non threating" manner.

Bill was a devoted Catholic and attended church at Sacred Heart in Dearborn, No matter the circumstances...Bill attended mass every single week.

Bill met the love of his life, Lorraine Bielat and they married on September 21st, 1968. They were married for 51 years until she passed away in 2019. He met Lorraine at a dance, at the Irish American Hall. They dated for about a year before they decided to get married. When ask why he picked her he said "he did not pick her, she picked him". He never what she saw in him. She was the homecoming queen and she always had a lot of guys hanging around her. He felt like he was the luckiest man around.

They were both very compassionate, loving and charitable couple. They always had a pile of mail stacked high on the table from many organizations that they would both give to. When Bill found someone who did a good job he was very loyal to that person. For example, he had the same barber for 50 years!

Bill was thoughtful, kind, generous person who liked everyone. His passion was golf and playing the piano. He took up piano playing after he retired. You could always count on him playing you a tune when you went to visit him. He would say "your never to old to learn something new". He loved to read! which meant there was always a stack of books by his chair.

Bill would go to the gym just about every day as well as golfing as often as he could. He loved to watch football and golf, which was a priority for him, he was also a very good bowler.

Bill was always positive and upbeat even towards the end when he wasn't feeling well. When anyone would ask him how are doing? he would always say "I feel great" never complaining to anyone.

He was never afraid to say "I LOVE YOU"

Bill will always be remembered for his laugh, his kindness, and his compassion, especially his love that he had for life and for all of us!

Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
