William "Bill" Joseph Havlena, Jr. was born on August 25, 1934, to Charlotte and William, Sr. in Detroit, Michigan.He attended Dearborn High School, where he graduated in 1953. He was an active member at Guardian Lutheran Church in Dearborn, where he played baseball for many years during his youth, and ushered during mass as an adult.

Bill was a proud Army veteran. Upon graduation, he proudly served in the Army at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri, and then in Colorado until 1959. Afterwards, he returned to Dearborn where he became a draftsman at American Motors and Ford Motor Company where he worked until he retired from Fords in 1991. He worked contract jobs until his final retirement in 1996. Upon retirement, Bill and his beloved wife of 36 years, Eleanore, became snowbirds in Sebring, Florida, where he took up golf. He found his passion for the sport later in life and when he wasn't golfing in Florida, you'd find him on the greens at Dearborn Hills Golf Course.

He also loved baseball and watching the Tigers. His love of photography came while traveling with Eleanore to his favorite places, including Hawaii, and cruising with Eleanore and their friends to the Panama Canal and numerous places throughout the Caribbean. He loved to cruise! As a lifelong Dearborn resident, Bill is survived by his beautiful wife, Eleanore, his daughter, Nancy (Rob), stepchildren Kim (Richard), Lisa (Michael, dec.) and Eric (Lisa) and grandchildren Brian, Kevin, Victoria, Claire, Scott, Justin, Ryan, Peyton and Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet and daughter, Linda.

Visitation at the Dearborn Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home on Friday, March 3, 4-8pm. Service Saturday, March 4, at the funeral home at 11am. Interment with Army honors at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West.
