Yager William "Bert" of Taylor, Michigan, age 83, left the earth on February 13, 2010 to join his late wife, Irene Hardin Yager, who passed on in 2006. They were married for 55 years, and leave behind three children: Patricia, Linda Hodge, and Michael Peggy. He was "Papa" to 6 grandchildren: Shanda Mitch Kelly, Steven Tiffany Welch, Mariah, Tristan and Ashleigh Hodge, and Melanie. He also leaves behind his 6 great-grandchildren: Dylan, Colby, Justin, Ethan, Zoey, and Liam. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, serving on the "U.S.S. Pickaway" in the South Pacific. A native of Michigan, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. After his retirement, he spent the winters in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife as a "snowbird," visiting all the children. During his years as a journeymen electrician with Wayne County, he took care of the Detroit Metro Airport like he owned it. He received many commendations over the years for his work and service. He will be greatly missed by us all. No funeral services will be held at this time. However, a memorial service will be held in May to honor him.
