Obituary

Winfield H. Arneson

Age 86. He was born on March 14, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was a long-time Green Bay Packers Fan. He was a loving husband for Karin and father for Christine Nolan and Lincoln Arneson, and a grandfather for Christopher and Kaitlyn Nolan.

Win attended Beloit College in Wisconsin where he received a degree in anthropology. He did archaeological field work in Alabama for the National Geographic and in Mexico for Beloit College.

Win was Chief Curator at the Dearborn Historical Museum for nearly 42 years where he was involved with the restoration of the museum's 1833 Commandants Quarters. Being very interested in the signers of the constitution and Declaration of Independence, he did research on them at various locations and published a series of articles on them in the Dearborn Historian Magazine for Dearborn's 200th anniversary celebration of the events.

He was an active member in many organizations including the Rotary Club of Dearborn.

Win enjoyed camping with the family and visiting historical and geographical locations in almost every state across the country during vacation times.

An informal gathering will be held on Sunday, July 10 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home in Dearborn. Come share your memories of Win.
