December 20, 1931 – November 13, 2023
Beloved husband of Eduvina. Loving father of Ysidro E., David J., Juan F., Felipe Israel, and the late Hector. Survived by brothers Sesario Duran and Joseph Duran. Preceded in death by parents: Ysidro and Petra. Sisters: Esperanza Gonzalez (Ramon), Delfina Mora (Valentine), Maria Garza (Bravlio), Petra Montes and brother Sylvester. Born in Chrystal City, Texas. Ysidro proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Squad Leader that operated machine gun teams. Visitation Friday 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Dearborn Location of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave. Dearborn, 48124. Burial with Army Honors will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery; Holly, Michigan, Friday, November 17th at 1:30 p.m.
Ysidro was a founding member and first president of the Latinos Unidos (Latins United). 76 S. St. Clair St., Toledo, OH. 43609. He was an advocate for the Latino Community. He was a member of the FLOC and attended numerous rallies and demonstrations in favor of FLOC. Ysidro held numerous jobs. In the early 1970s he served as the Director of the Guadalupe Community Center. He later worked for the City of Toledo Division of Streets and Harbor. He eventually worked for the American Can Company (Now known as Ball Corp.) in Whitehouse, Ohio. He retired from American Can.
In retirement Ysidro and his wife spent many years in Eagle Pass, Texas. They returned to Toledo and have spent the last 3 1/2 years in Toledo.
