Obituary

Yvonne E. Cook was born on January 21, 1939 in Cairo, Illinois.  She was the first of nine children born to Harry Cook and Fannie Cobb Cook. The family relocated to live in St. Louis, Missouri when Yvonne was young.  She went on to graduate from Hadley High School, where she developed an interest and talent in fashion and design.

While living and working In St. Louis, Yvonne became the proud mother of her three children;  Antonio, Shirley, and Anthony.  After visiting relatives of her mother's family in Detroit, Michigan, Yvonne made the decision to relocate there with her children to assist with the care of a relative.  With her generous heart and kind manner, she quickly made many friends in Detroit.  She had a natural desire to help others, and continued working in the Health Care field, as an attendant in a home for the elderly and infirm.  Earlier in her life she had worked in Child Care, with young children and families.

After some years, Yvonne traveled back to live in St. Louis, where she was employed at the Brown Shoe Company.  She made good friends there, and enjoyed the work atmosphere.  Yvonne was also helpful with her parents and other family members in St Louis at that time.  Eventually she returned once again to live in her favorite city, Detroit, Michigan.

Yvonne was greatly loved by her family, her friends, and by many others.  Her friendly and gentle manner made it easy to be with her and talk with her.  She looked for the best in people, and shared a positive attitude and a good sense of humor.  She enjoyed watching action movies, horror movies, comedies, and her favorite movie stars in the movie theater or on the classic channel.  She was also a creative and sensitive writer, and received at least one certificate for her work.

Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, Fannie and Harry Cook; her son, Antonio; sister, Diane; brothers, Edward, Harry, Jr. ; sister-in-law, Barbara; brother-in-law, Enrique; nephew, Lavelle.

She leaves behind; her daughter, Sherrell; her son,  Anthony (Larnetta); granddaughter, Kosta; grandsons, Anthony, Antonio, Angelo; great grandchildren, Antonio, Mason and Brooklynn;  siblings, Marian, Shirley, Minnie, Rodelle (Debra), Donald; nieces and nephews, Jaime, Lisa, Anita, Edward, Emily, Nakia, Harry III, Diane (Alec), Eric (Kristy), Edward; cousins, Lillian, Kay, Sherena, Anna Marie, David and Barbara Jean; friends, Joan, Rita, and many other friends and in-laws.
