Yvonne Hudak

Yvonne Estelle Deman was born in Ray Center, Michigan, on March 9th, 1930 to John and Anna Deman. She is predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Anne Olmstead and Mary Deman, and her brothers Samuel Deman, John Deman (Evelyn), Paul DeMan (Marie), Donald Deman (Norma), James DeMan (Evelyn), Henry Deman (Viola), Harold DeMan (Gladys), and Robert Deman, and her daughter Janet. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and great grand nieces and great grand nephews.

Yvonne, grew up on a farm in Ray Center, Michigan. She went to a one room school house from kindergarten through the eighth grade. She attended New Haven High School where she played trumpet in the band and was a cheerleader.

Yvonne received an undergraduate degree from Moody Bible Institute. She married John Hudak in 1957 and gave birth to her daughter Janet in 1958. Yvonne’s husband, John, died in 1961. After working several years, Yvonne earned her Bachelor of Religious Education from the Detroit Bible College in 1967 and her Masters of Arts from Eastern Michigan University in 1970. She was an elementary school teacher for 25 years in the Melvindale school district. Yvonne loved her numerous dogs over the years, even entering some of them into shows. Her daughter Janet died in 2004.

Yvonne maintained a very active social life. She was a member of a few Red Hat Society circles, a member of the Dearborn senior groups “The Thunderbirds” and “The Savvy Seniors”. She loved to paint, knit, collect stamps and coins or pretty much anything. She would knit scarves for the Salvation Army. She traveled the world and in her spare time she would volunteer at Greenfield Village, The Henry Ford Museum, The Fairlane Estate, and she ushered at the Fox and Fisher Theaters.

Yvonne was an active member at Gratiot Avenue Baptist Church and later at Ward Presbyterian Church. Late in life she enjoyed attending Dearborn Baptist Church when she could. She had established a scholarship fund for members of her church to be able to attend Moody Bible Institute and maintained it for several years. When Yvonne was 80, she had a double knee replacement. Yvonne had an infectious smile and was a generally happy person who liked to joke around in spite of the difficulties she had encountered in her life. Even after being in the hospital many times when her health was significantly impacted, she would always bounce right back until she fell this past May. Yvonne lost her energy to keep going and went home to be with her Lord on June 23, 2026 at the age of 96.
