Timothy Schramm
Timothy Schramm
Owner/Licensed Funeral Director, CCO, CFSP, CMFP

Tim grew up in the city of Taylor, MI, graduating in 1983 with academic and athletic honors from Harry S. Truman High School. He worked for the City of Taylor in the Parks and Recreation Department for ten years starting as a field attendant and score keeper, and at the age of nineteen became the Supervisor of the men's softball and basketball leagues, girl's fast-pitch softball league, elementary basketball and T-ball leagues. He went on to attend and play football at Wayne State University from 1983-1986 where he was elected as a captain by his teammates and coaches his junior and senior years, while again earning honors both academically and athletically. Tim was fortunate enough to be invited to two NFL training camps before returning to Wayne State as a football coach and finishing his mortuary science degree. For 20 years ending 2009, Tim officiated three sports in the Michigan High School Athletic Association. By 2013, he completed 22 years as an NCAA Football Official and Baseball Umpire working in Division I, II and III, of which for the last seven years he was a football crew chief, achieving a post season assignment in each of those years.


Tim began his Funeral Service career as a Funeral Service Associate at Howe-Peterson in 1988, working nights and weekends while attending the Wayne State Mortuary Science Program. Following graduation Tim served his Residency at Howe-Peterson, then completed National and State Board Licensing, after which he became a Funeral Service Professional. In 1994 he was named the Location Manager for the Taylor Location. Tim has earned national certifications as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP), Certified Crematory Operator (CCO), Certified Cremation Services Provider (CCSP) and state certification as a Certified Michigan Funeral Practitioner (CMFP).


In 2005 Tim was named Vice President and Director of Operations at Howe-Peterson where he led all aspects of the firm, including Funeral Service Operations, Advance Funeral Planning Services, Hope and Healing Grief Support Services, Marketing and Website initiatives, and Staff Development. In 2011, Tim was named the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Howe-Peterson, leading all aspects of the firm having worked for three generations of the Peterson family.


In 2015 with the Peterson family, Tim with his wife Cheryl, along with their business partner Timothy J. Kirby began a Management Buyout Transition, completing the ownership transition in January of 2017. Tim continues to serve as the firms Owner/CEO with Tim Kirby as the firm's Owner/CFO.


Tim is past-President of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association (2014-2015), having been the first non-owner to serve as President in its history. He is also past-President of the MFDA Services Corporation. Tim is a long time Member, Trustee and past-President of the Michigan Mortuary Science Foundation since 2015. Tim continues to serve in the MFDA as a member of the MFDA-Gift of Life-Eversight Workgroup, Speaker, Program Presenter, Task Force Chair.


Tim is also active with the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), currently serving on the Advocacy Committee and as a National Spokesperson, having also served on the Vision for the Future Workgroup, the NFDA National Leadership Conference, the NFDA Advocacy Conference and the NFDA Annual Convention. He also serves as a Mentor for the 2025 NFDA Meet the Mentors program. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for the National Funeral Service Foundation (FSF). Tim is a member of the Archdiocese of Detroit Grief & Bereavement Ministry Advisory Council.


Tim currently serves as a Commander of the Michigan Mortuary Response Team (MI-MORT), a multi-profession, cross-agency group established to address mass fatality incidents. This team is a collaborative partnership of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Bureau of EMS, Trauma and Preparedness (BETP), Michigan State Police (MSP), Michigan Funeral Directors Association (MFDA), Michigan Association of Medical Examiners (MAME), Michigan Dental Association (MDA), Disaster Assistance Recovery Team (DART), Michigan State University (MSU) and Western Michigan University Medical School (WMED) Forensic Anthropology and Forensic DNA Departments. The advanced nature of the MI-MORT Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) led to their being embraced and adopted as the standards by all 50 states, FEMA, the Department of Homeland Security and National Funeral Directors Association. He is also a NDMS Victim Advocate on the Disaster Mortuary Operations Response Team (DMORT) Victim Information Center (VIC).


Tim continues his support for and influence on the future of his profession, serving on the Wayne State University Mortuary Science Program’s Advisory Board, the Committee on Reaccreditation for the Mortuary Science Program, and as the Past Chair and current Board Member of the WSU Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Board of Visitors (EACPHS-BOV). Where he has led an Endowed Scholarship initiative creating nearly a half-million dollars in Mortuary Science Endowed Scholarships.


Tim is active in local communities as well, serving as the Secretary for the Exchange Club of Dearborn and Exchange Club of Dearborn Foundation for over 20 years, a former Board Member Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce (DACC), Public Policy Committee Member of the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber (SWCRC), Past President and Member of the Dearborn Area Business Builders (DABB), Member of the Downriver Business Association (DBA), Member of the Dearborn Goodfellows, Member of the Dearborn Centurions, Board Member for the City of Taylor Tax Incremental Finance Authority (TIFA). He was recently awarded the ‘Top 20 Most Dynamic Business Leaders of 2023’ by The Corporate Magazine.


Tim and his wife of thirty years, Cheryl, have two children, Joshua, who has completed a University of Michigan Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) and works in Community Health, and Sophie, who works in cyber security.

Jeff began his journey in the funeral service industry at 15 years old. In 1996 he joined the Howe-Peterson family as a Funeral Service Associate while attending Wayne State University Mortuary Science Program. After completing his Bachelor's degree, Jeff completed his Residency, National Board Certification and State Board Certification to become a licensed funeral director. Jeff has served as a licensed funeral director in both our Dearborn and Taylor Chapels, today he humbly functions as the Location Manager of our Dearborn Chapel serving Dearborn and surrounding Downriver Communities.


He has earned national certifications as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP), Certified Crematory Operator (CCO) and state certified as a Certified Michigan Funeral Practitioner (CMFP) completing over 250 hours of continuing education. Most recently, Jeff proudly completed his training as a Certified Celebrant, to continue to serve and help families in new and different ways. Jeff is very active in the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce as a Chamber Ambassador, Chamber Connect Group and as an exhibitor at the Annual Chamber Choice Awards and Expo.


Jeff is a long-time member of the Dearborn Elks and parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dearborn. He is married to Sara and they have been blessed with two children, Adeline and Spencer. Chad was born and raised in Monroe, MI, where he graduated from Monroe High School in 1991. Chad began his Funeral Service career in 1993 serving as a Funeral Service Associate. Chad graduated from Wayne State University in 1995 with a Bachelor's of Science in Mortuary Science Degree. He became a licensed funeral director in 1996 and a member of the Howe-Peterson family in 1999 where he currently proudly functions as the Location Manager of our Taylor Chapel. Chad has earned national certification as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) and Certified Crematory Operator (CCO) as well as state certification as a Certified Michigan Funeral Practitioner (CMFP). He is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and also serves as the Vice-President of District One for the Michigan Funeral Directors Association where he serves on the Grievance and Ethics Committee, chosen because of his character and integrity in funeral service.

She then went on to study at Wayne State University, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Mortuary Science in 2020. She also earned national certification as a Certified Cremation Services Provider (CCSP) in 2020. Jenna served her residency here at Howe-Peterson and was then hired as a Licensed Funeral Director in 2021.


Jenna currently serves as a member of the American Association of University Women Wyandotte-Downriver Branch, a participant in the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber of Commerce Legislative and Business Forum as well as the Michigan Funeral Directors Association-Gift of Life-Eversight Workgroup. Jenna was selected to participate in the 2022-2023 Michigan Funeral Directors Association Leadership Academy and will graduate in May of 2023. She was also selected to participate in the 2023 National Funeral Directors Association ‘Meet the Mentors’ program in Atlanta, GA.


In her spare time, she likes to try new restaurants in downtown Detroit and spend time with her cat, Midnight. Her goal is to travel to one new state every year. 


Jenna believes taking care of someone's loved one is the highest honor anyone could ever have, and that is a privilege to have a career that is so important and necessary to families dealing with a loss. Her compassion and sensitivity are what makes her a great fit here at Howe-Peterson.

McKenna grew up in Highland, MI, where she went on to attend and graduate from Milford High School in 2020. She followed this by attending Oakland Community College while she worked during schooling and eventually transferred to Wayne State University, where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Mortuary Science. In this process, she earned the Gerald P. Cavellier Excellence in Embalming Award. 


McKenna experienced death at a young age, so death was familiar early in life. She took this experience and used it to drive her passion for supporting families in their greatest time of need. She finds it incredibly rewarding to create memorable services and experiences for the families she serves.


In her free time, she enjoys antique shopping, estate sales and exploring the areas around her. She especially enjoys the sights Michigan has to offer on Mackinac Island and in Petoskey.

Danielle proudly runs our Grief Support Program, which includes our Hope & Healing general grief support program and our Grief After Suicide program, which offers grief support group to those who have lost a someone to suicide. 


She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Human Service with a special focus in Death, Dying, and Bereavement, Family Dynamics and Crisis Intervention. She prides herself on helping those learn to live again after experiencing the death of a loved one. 


In addition to running our Grief Support Program, she is a Licensed Advanced Funeral Planning Agent. Her passion grew for advanced funeral planning when she saw the critical importance it offers to an individual's emotional well-being. A well-being not only for those who are making their own arrangements, but for those left behind.

Elizabeth joined the Howe-Peterson team in August 2019 as a Funeral Service Associate. More commonly known as “London” in the chapels, she transitioned into community relations in 2021, where she continues to represent Howe-Peterson with warmth, professionalism, and care. Drawing on her extensive background in client relations and sales, London has become a bridge between the funeral home and the broader community, cultivating partnerships and fostering trust through her active engagement in numerous Downriver organizations and associations.


As Director of Community Relations, London has built strong connections across the Downriver and Dearborn communities through her service in local chambers, associations, and nonprofit organizations. With the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber of Commerce (SWCRC), she has served as a member of the Chamber Ambassador Committee, Past Ambassador Committee Chair, a contributor to the Chamber Connections Leadership Team, chairperson of various committees, and a graduate of the Leadership 21 Program. She also serves with the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce (DACC) as both a Board Member and a member of the Chamber Ambassador Committee. Beyond her chamber work, London is a member of the Downriver Business Association (DBA), the Council for Action on Aging (CAA), and the Downriver Networking Group (DNG). She is committed to advancing senior services as Secretary of The Advisory Council for The Senior Alliance and supports mental health and wellness as a Board Member of the Dearborn Pastoral Counseling Center (DPCC).


In addition to her community work, London plays an important role in serving families directly by assisting with memorial markers and headstones. Her attention to detail and compassion ensure that every family’s wishes are honored with the utmost care and respect.


Outside of her professional life, London and her husband, John, are raising their two daughters on a piece of acreage, where they enjoy the peace and joys of rural living.

Community Relations/Memorial Sales Counselor

Elizabeth joined the Howe-Peterson team in August 2019 as a Funeral Service Associate. More commonly known as “London” in the chapels, she transitioned into community relations in 2021, where she continues to represent Howe-Peterson with warmth, professionalism, and care. Drawing on her extensive background in client relations and sales, London has become a bridge between the funeral home and the broader community, cultivating partnerships and fostering trust through her active engagement in numerous Downriver organizations and associations.


As Director of Community Relations, London has built strong connections across the Downriver and Dearborn communities through her service in local chambers, associations, and nonprofit organizations. With the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber of Commerce (SWCRC), she has served as a member of the Chamber Ambassador Committee, Past Ambassador Committee Chair, a contributor to the Chamber Connections Leadership Team, chairperson of various committees, and a graduate of the Leadership 21 Program. She also serves with the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce (DACC) as both a Board Member and a member of the Chamber Ambassador Committee. Certified Celebrant/CCO/Maintenance

James has over 18 years of experience in the funeral industry earning national certification as a Certified Crematory Operator (CCO).  He was interested in becoming a funeral director since the age of 15 when he helped his father deliver milk to a funeral home on his route. He loved the way the funeral director treated the family and cared for the deceased, he also liked the idea of driving a hearse.


In 2016, James began working with Howe-Peterson as a Funeral Service Associate while continuing his career in the plastic injection molding business.  In 2021, he was offered a full-time position as a Funeral Service Coordinator.  Recently James has become a Certified Funeral Celebrant and really enjoys being able to provide customized, funeral and memorial services for our families that reflect on the personality and lifestyle of your loved one. He is a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association, Knights of Columbus MSGR Hunt, Downriver Wings and volunteers for the Ted Lindsay Foundation for Autism.


James proudly served four years with the Navy, he is married and blessed to raise four wonderful children. He and his wife are Parish members of St. Linus Catholic Church and volunteer at their yearly festival.  In his spare time, James loves to ride his motorcycle, playing softball and is an avid bowler.
